Sometimes, actually quite often, the tools that we need to accomplish a task are within our grasp. We are simply overlooking them or, we have forgotten we had them!
Recently I was on a weekend trip and had packed in a hurry. Since my focus was on the business of the day and I didn’t expect to run into anyone – literally – I got up the first morning and couldn’t find my brush or mousse. Understand this, to say my hair is straight is an understatement. It is also quite fine. So, no product and no way to encourage any volume other than the blow dryer, with fairly short hair, resulted in something that, in my opinion looked like a colored skull cap. Day 2 resulted in the same look even though I “parted” it on the opposite side. Oh, and did I mention I was using my fingernails as a comb? For a moment, I wondered how I put up with anything that resembled that look when I was in the Marines. However, I realized that back then I wasn’t worried about the hair as I word a cover (hat) any time I was in uniform.
Anyway, I share this story because I returned home only to discover that my brush and mousse were not in their usual place, I realized I had indeed taken them with me. I had tucked them safely out of the way and never noticed where I had put them.
In life we do this frequently to ourselves when we find ourselves stressed out … worried … confused … angry … frustrated … I think you get the idea.
We overlook our natural gifts and talents that we bring to the table every day. We forget about the myriad of resources that are there for the asking if we would just ask and let the people around us know we need help. We fail to recognize that the class or event we attended some time in the past, has given us straightforward directions on what we might want to do next in our family life, in business or in life in general.
There are clues and key ingredients that, once we recognize them, will help us to take advantage of hidden and additional resources. It may start with knowing what you want, or even what you don’t want. It can be followed by taking it a step further in recognizing your life purpose and yes, the ever elusive “why am I here” CAN be answered. Maybe it is cleaning up the things that you tolerate every day for the sake of…habit or a desire for non-confrontation.
Understand that change is possible no matter on how things look right now and dare to believe in your dreams.
Whatever your next step is, we look forward to supporting you as you pursue your dreams and helping you discover the unique gifts you have to offer!
